Friday 14th March 2025: Excitement is mounting in the run up to the Codling Wind Park Wicklow Half Marathon & 10k which will take place on Sunday the 23rd of March. Race organisers say the event is close to being sold out for the second year in a row with close to 3,500 runners, joggers and walkers set to take part.

The event, which will start on the quays of Wicklow Harbour, travels along a scenic route with stunning coastal views before finishing up in the unique courtyard of Wicklow’s historic gaol.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to be back for this iconic event once again”, said Sliabh Wells, Managing Director of The Bear Group. “The Codling Wind Park Wicklow Half Marathon & 10K has become a staple in the running calendar, attracting huge numbers year after year. With its stunning coastal views and fantastic atmosphere, it’s an event not to be missed. We welcome runners of all levels to take part and encourage anyone interested to register soon, as places are limited.”

Codling Wind Park Project Director Scott Sutherland said the company was delighted to support the event again this year. “This is a very important community event and always receives huge support from the people of Wicklow. Our partnership with it underlines our support and commitment to sustainability, community, and the promotion of an active and healthy lifestyle.”

“As well as exercising it’s a great way for people to socialise and have some fun while enjoying everything Wicklow has to offer. We’re also delighted that 25 runners from ‘Team Codling’, which is representing the project, and the community are taking part. Many of these are members of clubs like St Patrick’s GAA club and Inbhear Dee Athletics Club, which Codling have been supporting for several years. We wish them and all participants the very best for a great day out.”

 About Codling Wind Park

Codling Wind Park is a proposed offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea, approximately 13-22 kilometres off the County Wicklow coast, between Greystones and Wicklow Town. The project is a 50:50 joint venture between EDF Renewables and Fred. Olsen Seawind. With an expected capacity of up to 1,300 megawatts (MW), Codling Wind Park has the potential to supply over one million Irish homes with low carbon, locally produced, low-cost electricity, and to save almost 2 million tonnes of carbon emissions every year. The project submitted its planning application in September 2024.
